Structure Fire in Horicon
On January 26, 2009 at 1:05 PM the Chestertown Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Horicon Fire Department at a structure fire on Church Street in the hamlet of Adirondack. Upon arrival the two story building was heavily involved in fire on the second story and the attic area. Temperatures at the time of the fire were around 8 degrees which made operations difficult. Limited water in the area required the set up of a tanker operation. Members for Chestertown assisted with fire suppression, overhaul, and the tanker shuttle. No one was injured in the fire and the house was left uninhabitable. Operations by the members of the Chestertown Fire Department were under the direction of 1st Assistant Chief Jack Crossman.
