Structure Fire at The Johnsburg Market
On February 1, 2009 at 5:47 PM the Chestertown Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Johnsburg Fire Department at a structure fire at the Johnsburg Market 3449 State Route 8 in the hamlet of Johnsburg. Upon arrival the two story building was heavily involved in fire on the second story and the attic area. The building housed a general store and deli on the first floor and living space on the second story. Limited water sources in the area required the set up of a tanker operation several miles away. Members from Chestertown assisted with fire suppression, overhaul, and the tanker shuttle. No one was injured in the fire and the store and living space were completely destroyed. Operations by the members of the Chestertown Fire Department were led by 1st Assistant Chief Jack Crossman.
