Structure Fire – March 6, 2009
On March 6th, 2009 at about 1:30 AM the Chestertown Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Route 8 with the possibility that there was an occupant trapped in the bedroom on the first floor. Chief Swan arrived in 3 minutes to find fire from three sides with heavy involvement on the first floor. It was determined that the occupant was out of the residence upon his arrival.
Mutual aid was provided by the Pottersville, Horicon, and Warrensburg Fire Departments while the North Warren Emergency Squad provided rehabilitation for the fire fighters along with our auxiliary.
The residence was built in the late 1800’s and was of balloon construction making the extinguishment very difficult.
All units were clear and in service by 6:30 AM.
